During this festive season, there are numerous opportunities to give to those in need. Items that one now deems useless could be of enjoyment or use to those in unfortunate situations. Here are some ways to give back during this giving season.
Marine Toys for Tots:
This organization is dedicated to assure that every child whose family cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas, receives one. There are several ways one can donate to the organization.
- Drop off locations are widespread throughout the United States, ranging from gas stations to grocery stores. All one has to do is purchase a toy, or find lightly used toys, and dispense them into the designated bin.
- Mailing in a donation is also available, by visiting the website www.toysfortots.org, one can print the form and mail the donation.
- Online donating is also available; with the use of a bank card one can give a donation.
- One can also donate a used vehicle to the organization for those families who cannot afford to purchase a car. The donater will receive oa tax deductible donation form.
This organization allows one to fill a shoe box with any toys, hygiene products or school supplies for needy children around the world. Following specific guidelines found at www.samaritanpurse.org, one should specify whether the package is for a boy or girl, determine the age group, include a $7 donation (to cover shipping costs) and drop it off at the nearest location.
The Salvation Army’s Adopt an Angel:
Through the week of Dec. 11-14, one can visit www.angel.jcpenney.com and by following instructions, donate a JCPenney gift card to the Salvation Army. This gift card will be used to fulfill one Angel’s needs and wants.
American Red Cross
There are several ways to help the American Red Cross during the holidays. On their website there are ways to help children, military troops, emergency shelters and provide emergency water containers. One can choose to how much he wants to aid those in need by the size of the packages available. Gifts range from $18- $150, each specifying how many people it will help.
Toms Shoes:
Next time one goes shoe shopping consider Toms. These shows advocate their comfort and come in varied colors and designs. For every pair purchased, one pair is donated to children in need, especially children in developing countries. These shoes range from $40-$100.
