The Boone High School Theater department (Troupe 1139 of the International Thespian Society) competed with 8,000 actors and technicians at the Florida State Thespian Festival in Tampa, Florida last weekend.
They took top honors in numerous events.
The results from the festival are:
1. Tyler Conrady earned an Excellent for monologues.
2. Carlos Santiago earned a Superior for monologues.
3. Tyler Conrady and Brandon Dalzell earned a Superior for Duet Acting.
4. Jackson Upperco and Veronica Kelly earned a Superior for Duet Acting.
5. Savanna Shurman competed in Scene Design and earned an Excellent.
6. Brianna Harper received a Good for Costume Design.
7. The large group musical “Step in Time” from Mary Poppins the Musical earned straight superiors and was chosen as Critics Choice for the Best Large Group in the State. The number featured: Dalles Black, Tyler Conrady, Ashley Connelly, Brandon Dalzell, Jacob LaStarza, Adena Labovitz, Chris Roland, Jackie Thomas, Angel Lozada, Emma Hunsicker, Colton McCorkle, Jackson Upperco, Melina Countryman, and Savanna Shurman.
