This week offers an opportunity to see what over 40 chorus students showed up after school for two days to audition for. These students competed for solos in the upcoming variety show.
The annual show, presented by the Boone Chorus, will include music from West Side Story, Billy Joel and Rent. The show will feature a large New York City set, props, costumes, pit band, choreography, lighting and sound. The show will occur over a three-day span, April 27, 28 and 29, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. General admissions tickets are $5.
Senior Emma Hunsiker auditioned and won solos in parts of four different songs including “Glory” and “Seasons of Love” from Rent, as well as “For the Longest Time” and “We Didn’t Start The Fire,” by Billy Joel.
“[My favorite part of the variety show] is singing. It’s just what I do. It’s what I like,” Hunsiker said.
Preparation for the show began two weeks before spring break and includes all 150 chorus students. Students have been preparing for the show in class and outside rehersals.
