Instead of sleeping in, over the winter break the boys varsity team woke up and traveled to Ocoee, where they played three games in a tournament.
The team finished the tournament 0-3 with games against Olympia, Osceola and Ocoee.
“I wasn’t pleased with the results. It was discouraging,” junior midfielder Connor Wood said.
Wood scored two goals over the tournament, one goal was in the game against Osceola ending the game 2-4.
“Even when we have off games, we need to learn to try to pull it together,” senior defender Matthew Long said.
Long and Wood both say the tournament was a learning experience for the team. With three games left the team will stay positive and plans to finish the season strong.
“The team could have done better but we learned that our attitude determines our result and our preparation determines how we play,” Wood said.
The team will play Seminole on Jan. 19 at Seminole and have a rematch against Osceola on Jan. 20 at Osceola.
The team plans on arriving to the game mentally prepared from now on.
“The tournament has motivated us to be better. We plan on training hard at every practice. I expect us to keep improving as a team,” Wood said.
