Teachers and students will showcase their talent in The Boone Foundation’s third fundraiser of the year. The first annual Battle of the Bands is on May 18 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will support student scholarships and upgrading technology.
The jazz band, Glenn Listort and, Mike Undieme’s band, FridayNight, will participate in this showcase of talent. Though other bands may be able to participate if they contact the foundation as soon as possible.
“It’s more of a showcase rather than a battle. It’s like Jazz Under the Stars: A great opportunity for people to meet, hear great music, eat great food and support a great cause,” principal Margaret McMillen said.
Five gourmet food trucks are going to be on campus the night of the event, The Crepe Company, The Eclectic Kitchen, Cluster Funk and Tubby’s Ice Cream. Also on campus that
night is Relay for Life, which will be in the stadium. Students will be able to watch the Battle and participate in Relay For Life.
The event is 10$ and in the Kemosabee Commons.
“[People should attend for] good music, good food, a good time
and a good cause. Support the Foundation because they support you.”
McMillen said.
