On May 12, Ugandan forces captured senior Lord’s Resistance Army commander Caesar Acellam after a fight near the Congo-Central African Republic Border.

Acellam is not one of the LRA commanders that is to be on trial with Kony, who was indicted by the The International Criminal Court in 2005, but Ugandan officials say that he was Kony’s top military strategist.

“[Having Acellam captured] is a big deal.  It shows that we are making progress in stopping the abductions and children armies,” Morgan said. “It’s a relief that we are on our way to stopping Kony.”

Kony recently became the center of attention after Invisible Children made an online video, Kony 2012, seeking to make him famous.

“[Finding Acellam] helps us get one step closer to finding Kony,” Morgan said.

The search for Joseph Kony, leader of the LRA , continues.  The ICC indicted him in 2005 based on war crimes and crimes against humanity, but Kony has not been caught.

“I think that everyone needs to know about [Kony] and what he is doing,” junior Jeffery Morgan said. “Kony is an evil man and should be stopped at almost any cost.”
