In the district final against defending champions Dr.Phillips High School, the girls lost 64-39 at home, but as guest team due to lower seed, on Feb. 1.
Before the end of the first quarter, McDonald’s All American nominee Bailey Florin made a basket bring the score to 16-18.
Entering the second quarter, Boone fouled and Dr.Phillips was granted two free throws. Making both, Dr.Phillips continued to score ending the half 21-36.
During the third quarter, Florin made both a layup and basket. Cassie Ketchum made a three-point shot ending the quarter, 33-55.
Four minutes left in the fourth quarter, Dr.Phillips continued to dominate the Lady Braves, 34-55. As the buzzer sounded, Kendall Byerly made a three-point shot. The game ended with Dr.Phillips winning 39-64. In total, Florin led with 17 points, while Byerly had six.
The next regional game is Feb. 7, away against Olympia at 7 p.m.
