On March 21, at Wadeview Pool, the boys water polo team started spring break with a win, defeating West Orange 14-6.

The game started on a high note. Senior Brendan Ellixson scored the first goal, followed by a goal from junior Joshua Rosenfeld. Senior Thomas Egan also scored in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, junior Austin Fussell scored a goal and senior William Stone had three back-to-back saves to keep the score 5-0 at halftime.

At the start of the third quarter, Ellixson scored a goal with an assist from Egan. West Orange scored three goals, but these goals did not dampen the boys’ spirits as Egan scored three consecutive goals, making the game  9-3 at the end of the third quarter.

Egan scored his fifth goal of the night in the fourth quarter. Junior Zane Grant scored with an assist from Ellixson who also scored a goal. West Orange attempted a comeback with another three goals but could not pull out a win. Ellixson brought the final score to 14-6 with two more goals to close out the game.

The win brought the team’s record to 9-6.

The boys play Westminster on Saturday, March 23, at 10:30 a.m. in Boca Raton at a three-game tournament.
