Despite poor weather, the boys track team took third place at the FHSAA District 4A Competition on April 18 with 96 points, defeating the Colonial High School team, which had 94 points.

Three athletes placed first in four different events, which brought in 40 of the team’s points. Senior Brandon Reddick finished first in both the 100-meter dash, 10.73, and the 200-meter dash, 21.61. In boys shot put, junior Luis Rivera won first with his throw, 47-7.25. The fourth, first place win was in boys discus, in which senior Robert C. Strange won with his throw, 163-07.

Also in boys discus, sophomore Colby Ritton placed second, 143-01, junior Luis Rivera placed third, 141-01, and junior Melvin Torres placed sixth, 124-11.

Success was prevalent throughout other events at districts as well. Senior Jamal Clark placed fourth in high jump, 5-04. In boys shot put, senior Stephen Brock placed fifth, 43-01.25, and sophomore Colby Ritton placed 11th, 41-10.

Junior James Turner took seventh in the 400-meter dash, 52.45. In the 4×100 meter relay, seniors Brandon Reddick, Shawn Latimer and Stephen Brock with freshman Jonathan Joanis placed fourth, 43.30.

The boys 4×400 meter relay team, consisting of seniors Stephen Brock, Tyler Chapman and Brandon Reddick and sophomore Anthony Turner brought home second place, 3:24.79.

In the 800-meter run, junior Tyler Chapman took third place, 1:56.43, and the 4×800 meter relay team placed sixth, 8:30.93.

The official results from the meet, including those from both the preliminaries and finals, are available here. Regionals are April 26 at Flagler Palm Coast High School at 12 p.m. where athletes will compete to move on to state competition.
