In a fairly laid back match, the Lady Braves (2-2) beat the Cypress Creek Bears (1-1) in a four set match. Senior Nicole Lakman started with the first point in set one. The girls won the first set quickly, 25-18, with a kill from sophomore Lillian Baker.
In a back and forth second set, junior Erin Carter and senior Sydney Ritten made several kills to rake in points. The set was neck and neck for about 15 points, until the Lady Braves stepped up. Erin Carter killed the ball and brought the score to 24-15. The girls won the second set, 25-15.
Lillian Baker started the third set with an ace, putting her at 14 aces so far this season, but the Braves began to fall behind. The Lady Braves came back in a nail biting set, moving from 13-20 to 21-25 with an out of bounds kill that ended the game.
The fourth set started with a serve into the net from Cypress Creek making the score 1-0. This set was neck and neck until Baker came back to serve and made ace after ace, helping the girls earn a 17-11 lead. At 23-15, Sydney Ritten and freshman Clara Flint blocked a Cypress Creek kill and added a point. Erin Carter proceeded to kill the ball and win the fourth set 25-15 for the Lady Braves.
The Lady Braves beat the Cypress Creek Bears in a 3-1 match. The team will play Olympia High School (2-1) at home, Thursday Sept. 1 at 7 p.m.
