With over 30 college offers and more recruiting, senior offensive tackle Leyton Nelson toured 15 different colleges in the southeast including University of Central Florida, University of Florida, Florida State University, Auburn University and Ole Miss to name a few.
Last month, Nelson committed to UCF and is looking forward to playing with the local university.
“[When I was deciding, I really wanted] relationships with people there, how genuine they were with everything, the future of the program, the academics and the majors,” Nelson said.
Nelson also took UCF’s move to the Big 12 Conference into consideration.
“This is the year they are moving to the Big 12 [Conference] and in 2024, it’s going to be a Power Five program, more to the program and the school,” Nelson said.
Although Nelson has played on varsity for three years and preparing to play at the collegiate level, he still considers playing on the freshman football team his favorite memory.
“[My favorite memory from high school is] freshman football to be honest, I went all out with everything, just becoming friends with everyone, it really set the tone for me in high school,” Nelson said.
