Instead of sitting at home watching reruns of Jersey Shore and listening to Justin Bieber, come see I Saw You Scream Last Friday the 13th on Elm Street to see celebrity characters in action.

It opens with Jamie, who is desperate to have a spectacular Halloween party. He invites his friends who include Jersey Shore star Snooki, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Twilight stars Rob, Taylor and Kristen. The party soon turns from a light, funny atmosphere to the scene of a murder which allows the development of the plot.

The play is an original piece written and directed by Rob Ward which includes characters from horror films Scream, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Saw. It also includes original characters that represent varied high school stereotypes, such as Laquisha who is outspoken and fearless of the plot’s impending doom, she is constantly screaming and arguing saying “Oh hell no!” to other cast members. There is also DJ Winnie, who is caught up with music and showing off his “skills”.

“[Ward] wanted to choose movies that people are most familiar with [and] choose things people would know about and recognize,” drama teacher Tiffany Weagley said.

The show also features famous pop culture items such as the Old Spice  man, the cast of Glee, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. Faculty personnel also make a cameo appearance.

“[The play] has jokes teens will understand [and is also] a great Halloween play that is family friendly,” Weagley said.

Tickets are $5 tonight for the 5 p.m. show and $7 for Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.
