Starting college can be scary. Moving away from home and meeting new people can be frightening, but that doesn’t at
all compare to having a roommate who is a psycho with a sweet facade.
Sara (Minka Kelly), a nice girl from Iowa new to UCLA who lost her older sister at the age of nine. Rebecca (Leighton Meester, Gossip Girl) as Rebecca plays her artistic roommate who carries numerous skeletons on her closet.
This thriller tells the tale of two roommates gone wrong. When Sara first meets Rebecca she had high hopes for the rest of the semester, but that was before she discovered how clingy and protective Rebecca was.
Rebecca took Sara’s problems as her own. When party girl Tracy (Aly Michalka, Hellcats) who portrays a bad influence leaves Sara stranded in a club while she left with a guy she didn’t really know. Tracey later gets a visit from Rebecca in the shower to make her aware to leave Sara alone.
When Sara’s most recent ex-boyfriend Jason (Matt Lanter, voice of Anakine Skywlaker in animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars) comes for a visit after constantly bothering Sara everything with phone calls. He later finds he should have just stayed at Brown.
When Sara gets invited to have Thanksgiving with new boyfriend Stephan (Cam Gigandet,Twilight), Rebecca takes the incentive to guilt Sara into going to her house for break. When Sara stays at Rebecca’s house, she discovers she takes (or seems to not take) medication for a bipolar disorder.
Sara majored in fashion design where her creepy Intro to Design professor (Billy Zane, Titanic) later gets his when an anonymous recording is sent to the dean of him hitting on a student after hitting on Sara only days before.
Things get weirder when Rebecca copies Sara’s tattoo of her dead sister’s name (Emily) on her chest.
Although I enjoyed this thriller and director Christian E. Christiansen incorporates countless jumping scenes the movie proved too predictable.
