Disney’s movie Prom has a nice array of music, from The Neon Trees to Travie McCoy to Girl in a Coma. The music is geared to the younger generation, as is the movie, but it’s nothing you would expect of Disney. No Hannah Montana or Selena Gomez, instead there are a variety of bands and a few solo singers that make up this soundtrack that makes you want to dance.

Songs such as “Not your birthday” by Allstar Weekend and “We’ll be alright” by Travie McCoy are not what one might expect of Disney. A few explicit words are incorporated in and messages that may not be suitable for the youngest ears.

Simple Plan, which had fallen off the map a bit, came back with their song in this soundtrack, “Can’t keep my hands off you.” It’s upbeat rock is a perfect fit for the movie.

Most of the songs have to do with relationships and love, but there are some people that send the live it up message, as they should to the age group they are trying to reach.

The soundtrack is a fun mix of rock, pop and slow songs that are perfect for the movie. Prom opened April 29. Be sure to see it and grab a copy of the soundtrack.
