Highly acclaimed by former restaurant goers, Hawkers Asian Street Fare is suitable to the taste buds.
If you’re looking for a good Asian place with a low price, Hawkers Asian Street Fare is the place to be. The restaurant is located at 1103 N. Mills Ave. off Colonial and Mills Avenue in the heart of Little Asia. Looking at it from the roadside, the restaurant looks like the average takeout diner, but once one walks through the doors it is a trendy up-to-date atmosphere. The tables are lined with old newspaper all written in different Asian characters under the glass tops.
Dishes are served in glass bowls, in smaller portions that are not enough for leftovers. As long as there is no line, which would be no longer than a 10 minute wait, guests are seated right away. With the array of high top tables or booths and big screen TVs, the restaurant is ideal for any dinner date if one is not trying to be too intimate, and seeks a nice dinner out.
With smaller plates ranging from $3-$6.50 and bigger portions ranging from $4-$6, Hawkers provides an affordable place for all. The Lo Mein ($6) was extremely tasteful and packed with true Asian flavor, which included stir-fried egg noodles with mixed vegetables and choice of chicken or beef. The portion was enough to fill one up. If one is looking for something spicy, the Pad Thai is the dish to choose. This $6 meal came with stir-fried rice noodles with shrimp, chicken, eggs, bean sprouts and red chili peppers, topped with crushed roasted peanuts. For all the spicy lovers, Thai is the way to go.
Making customers happy with the low prices, this restaurant also provides fast customer service. Diners are immediately catered to a few moments after being seated, which makes any hungry diner happy.
Overall Hawkers provides a great dining out experience for any money saving, Asian loving customer. They are open Monday-Thursday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.; Friday-Saturday 11 a.m.-11 p.m and Sunday 12p.m. – 10p.m.. Hawkers is a five star restaurant.
