Junior Christopher Roland follows through on his swing in hopes to up his overall score.

As ball hit the wood floor, it began its trek to the 10 bowling pins waiting at the end of the lane.  The ball scraped across the rim of the gutter, but then curved in at the last moment to make contact.  At bowling districts on Nov. 2, the girls placed fifth overall and the boys placed eight overall.

“I think we did what was expected,” coach Daniel Tringali said.  “We didn’t overachieve, but we didn’t underachieve.”

On the girls side, senior Ashley Cassidy qualified for states making her the highlight of the night.  For the boys, junior Christopher Roland bowled two games 30 pins above his normal average.  Another above average score of the night was junior Matthew Kaiser, who bowled a high game of 186 pins.

“I felt really helpful [after bowling my best score] because we really needed high scores and I put my best foot forward [to perform],” junior Chris Roland said.

Cassidy competed in states Nov. 8-9, at Boardwalk Bowl Entertainment Center.  She placed 64 out of the 208 qualifiers.

“I was really excited and nervous [after I qualified for states.]  I realized I was representing the school and I was the only one in awhile so I wanted to do well,” Cassidy said.
