Dressed head to toe in an Egyptian-temptress styled outfit, carried by a sea of men in Egyptian wear Madonna starred in the XLVI Super Bowl half-time show. The 53-year-old singer performed a remix of her 1990 song “Vogue.”
Then LMFAO joins Madonna on stage, performing in a medley of Madonna’s 2000 song “Music” and LMFAO’s song “I’m Sexy and I Know It.” In this number, Madonna surprised fans by not only singing with the duo, but also performing the shuffle with them, which she excelled at.
Following this performance, M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj come on stage to perform Madonna’s new song “Give Me All Your Luvin’.” This song was probably the least energetic of all her numbers. She simply pranced around and waved pom-poms in the air. This performance also sparked much controversy over M.I.A.’s un-censored middle finger in the performance. Madonna stated her dissatisfaction with M.I.A. over the scandal and called the action disrespectful. This mis-hap however could not take away from Madonna’s excellent performance.
After this performance, Cee-Lo Green led a drumline on stage. Madonna joined Cee-Lo to sing a short medley of her songs “Open Your Heart” and “Express Yourself.”
The show ended with a duet of Madonna and Cee-Lo singing her song “Like a Prayer.” This number was a tribute to the classic Madonna fans love. She performed in a shiny black overcoat and used her powerful voice to captivate the audience.
The performance featured video images that lit up the field. Much of the pictures were associated with the number they accompanied, “Vogue” featured models and “Music” featured speakers going along with the bass. The show ended with a collection of lights showing the words “World Peace.”
Although the pop star is 53-years-old, she is a force to be reckoned with. Her voice and stage presence make her the true star she is. Madonna’s 12th studio album MDNA will be released March 26 and can be pre-ordered on iTunes for $14.99.
