With 18 different teams competing, girls track tied for third overall at the Royal Open at the First Academy on Feb. 24.

Notable accomplishments came from junior Courtney Patz, who placed first in triple jump with a distance of 31’11”, and senior Justice Donald, who placed first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.50. Donald also placed second in the 400 with a time of 1:01.59. They both gained their season best in distance and time respectively.

The meet opened with field events with all four girls competing in pole vaulting placing in the top eight, Patz and juniors Mackenzie Williamson, Olivia Rees, and sophomore Jordan Whitmer.

Along with Patz, freshmen Lauryl Oliver placed sixth and Victoria Verzi placed seventh in triple jump. Oliver also placed eighth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 53.86.

In shot put, junior Miranda Miller placed seventh with a distance of 29’8.75″. Miller also placed seventh in the discus throw with a distance of 81’2″.

Junior Alexandra Meneses placed seventh in the 1600 meter run. Sophomore Claire Collins placed second in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:50.39. Collins also placed seventh in the 800 meter run.

In the 400 meter run, freshman Jordan Crawford placed fourth with a time of 1:02.08 and seventh in the 200 meter dash.

Overall, the girls tied with Lake Nona with 72 points.

The next track meet will be held at UNF at 5 p.m on Feb. 24.
