Playing in an away game against Lake Nona on March 18, the boys’ baseball team lost 4-6.

In the first four innings, the boys’ fell short at bat and in the outfield, with no runs.

In the fifth inning, the team kicked it into gear.  Coach Pete Post put in junior Clayton Willis to relieve pitch for senior Omar Gonzalez.  The pitching and the rest of the in-fields improved communication; the team didn’t let one player from Lake Nona pass third base.

In the sixth inning, senior Mitchell Barati led with a single and stole second and third base, setting up senior Brandon Rhea to bring him home a double.  After senior John Townsend hit a single, Rhea had the chance to score another run.

In the seventh inning, great defensive plays by junior Blake Sanderson and senior Ian McKinney prohibited Lake Nona from scoring.  Then, senior Dylan Dragon scored a double, sending junior Christian Martinez to third.  This put the team in a good position to score.  Sophomore Adam Anderson took advantage of the oppurtunity and hit a double, bringing in two more runs from Martinez and Dragon.

However, their success was short lived with three straight outs and they could not catch up.

The team will play Lake Brantley home on March 20.
