Monday afternoon, the girls golf team participated in the Regional Golf Tournament at Windermere Country Club for the first time in years.
The team finished in eighth place. Junior Mao Young, who shot an 83, led the girls’ team. Young needed a 77 to qualify for the State Championship as an individual player.
Young was able to birdie her first hole and parred 10 other holes.
Other players for the team included freshmen Jewell Gentry-Mickelson and Mia Edgar, and junior Rebecca Swingle. Junior Christen Sheffield was unable to play because of an illness.
The team’s season was ended after not advancing to the State Championship.
