On the morning of March 15, the underclass Braves competed against 14 other high schools for the title of underclass track and field champion at the Freshman Sophomore Metro Conference at Showalter Field.

In the meet’s field events, freshman Jonathan Joanis placed fifth (18’5”) and freshman Brent Sterno placed ninth (16’9”) in the boys long jump, and sophomore Jovante Hazzard placed 10th (33’1”) in the boys triple jump.

In boys discus, freshman Dominick Orlando placed 13th (90’1”) with his throw. Sophomore Colby Ritton placed third (40’6”) in boys shot put.

On the track, the boys placed ninth in the 4×800 meter relay, seventh in the 4×100 meter relay, and ninth in the 4×400 meter relay.

In the boys 100-meter dash, freshman Jonathan Joanis placed fifth overall (11.56) and Isaiah Rodriguez placed 13th (12.17).

In the boys 1600-meter run, freshman Spencer Blake took tenth place (4:54.2) and sophomore Anthony Turner took 11th (4:57.28).

In the 400-meter dash, sophomore Darius Jackson took home sixth place (53.06), and in the 200-meter dash, Jackson placed 12th overall (24.36).

In the 800-meter run, freshman Tyler Rispoli placed 13th (2:16.57). In the 3200-meter run, freshman Tyler Walton took 19th overall (12:14.37).

The boys team placed 11th overall at the meet.

All results from the meet are available online. The next meet, the Metro Conference Finals, is March 19 at 4:30 p.m. at Showalter Field.
