After a fierce win against East River, 8-0, the the Lady Braves took on last year’s district champs, Lake Nona, on Wednesday, Jan. 9.
Beginning the first half, offense kept the ball on Lake Nona’s side of the field and attempted four shots on goal. However at halftime the score remained 0-0.
Lake Nona came out into the second half aggressively, but the Lady Braves’ defense held firm. Senior goalie Alexandra King fended off four shots.
Nearing the end of game, sophomore Jewell Gentry-Mickelson attempted a goal and senior Emily Stearns kicked in the rebound to score the only goal of the game.
With a score of 1-0, the Lady Braves brought home a win, bringing their record to 14-7-1. The girls will take on Lake Highland on Friday, Jan. 9, at 5:30 p.m..
