In their game against Montverde Academy (12-5), the Braves (17-5) won.
The top of the first inning began with senior Kevin King on the mound. Montverde Academy didn’t score in the inning. In the bottom of the first inning, the stands went wild as senior Evan Lumbert hit a homerun. In addition, senior Onasis Matos hit a single. The inning ended, 1-0.
The second inning was the highest scoring inning of the game for the Braves. In the bottom of the second inning, senior Quentin Davis and junior Timothy Kaiser hit singles. Senior Robert Simmons made it to first and Davis ran home. With a double from senior Gavin Oliver, he batted in Kaiser. The second inning ended, 3-0.
Despite efforts from Lumbert and sophomore Noah Chevalier in the bottom of the third inning, the Braves did not score but maintained their lead, 3-0.
Montverde Academy attempted to catch up and hit one run in the top of the fourth inning. It was a tough inning for the Braves as all three batters were unable to hit any runs. The fourth inning ended, 3-1.
The top of the fifth inning resulted in no points for the Montverde Eagles. The bottom of the fifth inning began with Lumbert hitting a single, but ended scoreless.
In the top of the sixth inning, the Braves’ defense was strong and did not allow the Eagles to score. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Davis hit a single and then sprinted to second base when senior Justin Teague was up to bat. The score, though, at the end of the inning remained 3-1.
The top of the seventh inning was key to the Braves’ success. With their strong defense, the boys kept the Eagles from scoring, resulting in a 3-1 victory.
The Braves have their next game on April 15 against Lake Nona (13-9) away.
