The boys swimming team dominated the Edgewater Eagles on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Wadeview Pool. Juniors Travis Stuart,  Andy Hoogvorst, Samuel Gentry-Mickelson and Ryan Bogdan started the meet right in the 200 medley relay with a first place finish.

As the night progressed, the team began blazing a trail. In the 200 freestyle race Stuart finished first, Bogdan third and freshman Elias Contogonas came in fourth. Following that event Gentry-Mickelson, freshman Rusty Dagon and sophomore Jose Rodriguez placed first, second and third, respectively, in the 200IM.

The swimmers brought on a wave of victories against Edgewater, including senior Giancarlo Ottone’s first place and junior Ryan Paule’s second place ranking in the 50 freestyle. Then in the 100 butterfly, the 100 freestyle and the 500 freestyle the team swept the board taking first, second and third for all of them.

But the swimmers didn’t stop there, they continued to thoroughly embarrass the Eagles.  Once again they won first through third places in the 200 freestyle relay, 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke. In the 200 freestyle relay especially Ottone and Stuart showed great teamwork.

The team was not about to be outdone in their final race, the 400 freestyle relay. The swimmers didn’t let their guard down and stole all three ranks. The boys simply outdid themselves leaving the meet with a final score of 142-23 against Edgewater.

Come out and support the swim team at their next match-up on Wednesday, Sept. 16, against Timber Creek at 6 p.m at Wadeview Pool.
