With a myriad of new movies, TV shows and video games, fans are overwhelmed with the end of year releases.
Some of the best movies of the year are among those premiering at the end of the year, including The Peanuts Movie, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The Peanuts Movie (Nov. 6) is a blast to the past for just about everyone. After being somewhat dormant the past few years, with only repeats of the same old stuff, the Peanuts gang is back, much to the delight of fans. This new movie will feature an entire new cast, including Dog With a Blog‘s Francesca Capaldi as Little Red-Haired Girl, to voice the old and new characters, with the exception of Bill Melendez’s archived recordings of Snoopy and Woodstock. As usual, it will shift focus between Charlie Brown and Snoopy, as they each embark upon their craziest adventures yet.
Fans of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2, despite its nature to be a mouthful, are constantly talking about this second half of the movie adaptation of the third book of Suzanne Collins‘s trilogy. After the success of the last three movies, fans cannot wait for Katniss’s final battle. Embracing her “Mockingjay” title, Katniss and her allies set out to take down President Snow and the Capitol. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 releases Nov. 20.
Premiering 10 years after the Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, and set about 30 years after Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens is long-awaited. Fans everywhere are pumped to see what trouble has arisen in the “galaxy far, far away.” While no one is quite sure what the plot entails, millions are ready to find out at its premiere Dec. 18; Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens first-day ticket sales sold eight times as many tickets as the The Hunger Games, the previous pre-sale record holder.
Already several new shows and seasons of existing shows have aired their first episodes, such as Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Heroes Reborn, Supernatural, Grimm, The Muppets and The Walking Dead. However, there are more to come, including Jessica Jones.
After the success of Marvel’s Agents of Shield, Marvel Comics introduced Daredevil and Marvel’s Agent Carter. Now, they have added another to their army against DC Comics: Jessica Jones. Following former super-heroine Jessica Jones, the show focuses on Jones’s new life fighting crime as a private investigator. Jessica Jones launches the first 13 hour-long episodes Nov. 20 on Netflix.
Like Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, there are other new additions to video game franchises that have yet to make their debut. Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Fallout 4 and Star Wars Battlefront all release this November.
Up for their yearly release, Treyarch has scheduled Call of Duty: Black Ops III to debut Nov. 6 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Set 40 years after Call of Duty: Black Ops II, the game will follow a team of super soldiers’ battle against a possible robotic takeover. Unique among the other Call of Duty games, the events of Call of Duty: Black Ops II switch between the four armed forces to combine into a single campaign with 14 missions total. Prices start at $49.99 and vary depending on the platform and version.
Set in roughly the same time as Fallout 3, Fallout 4 begins on the day the bombs dropped, Oct. 23, 2077. Taking place in Boston and other parts of New England, called the Commonwealth, the game opens with the player’s character taking shelter in Vault 111. Fallout 4 releases Nov. 10 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will cost $59.99.
With new exclusive rights to Star Wars games, Electronic Arts is excited to release Star Wars Battlefront on Nov. 17 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Gamers become a Rebel Alliance soldier or an Imperial Stormtrooper, as well as choose between well-known characters, such as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Leia Organa, Han Solo, Boba Fett and The Emperor. Prices range from $59.99 for the Standard Edition to $119.98 for the Ultimate Edition.
Of course, these movies, shows and games are only a few among many debuting this fall, as well as in the winter, to finish the year strong with entertainment. Here are calendars of movie releases, show premieres and video game debuts.
