On Feb. 20, the girls track team competed at the Sanford-Seminole Open 2016 at the National Training Center in Clermont. They placed in the top 10 in eight of the 34 events. 

Junior Jewell Gentry-Mickelson placed first in the girls long jump with a distance of 16 feet-11.25 inches. Sophomores Yesenia Lorenzo and Destiny Caraballo followed close behind ranking third with 16 feet-4.75 inches and sixth with 16 feet, respectively. In the girls high jump, senior Madison Henderson placed fourth with 4 feet-8 inches.

Sophomore Jae Crawford ranked first in the girls shot put throwing 37 feet-5 inches and second in the discus throw with 107 feet-5 inches. Junior Viktoria Pringle placed fifth in the shot put with 32 feet-9.75 inches and third in the discus throw with 104 feet-7 inches. 

On the track, Gentry-Mickelson placed fifth in the 100-meter dash at 12.60 seconds and Caraballo ranked tenth at 12.99 seconds. Senior Jordan Crawford placed fourth in the 300-meter hurdles at 50.63 seconds.

Overall, the team ranked 10th in the 4×100 meter relay, 54.44 seconds, and ninth in the 4×400 meter relay with 4 minutes 25.56 seconds. They ranked fourth overall with 17 events scored.

All of the results of the meet are available here. The next meet, The Lake Brantley Invitational, will be held at Lake Brantley High School on Feb. 27.
