Describe your job. I help mostly freshmen learn the basic concepts of the Algebra 1 curriculum.
What are some challenges you’ve experienced so far this year? I teach freshmen, and they like to talk. So challenges have been to create activities for them so they can interact.
What are your goals for this upcoming school year? My goals are to prepare my students as best as possible for the EOC and for the real world.
What are you most looking forward to this year? I’m looking forward to my first season coaching the lacrosse team. Regarding teaching, I’m looking forward to talking to my students about how they felt about the EOC.
Describe your high school experience. I went to a really small school, probably a third of this school. So all my teachers knew my parents, and by the time I graduated I knew everyone in my class. It was a good experience.
If you could give students one piece of advice, what would it be? Enjoy the time you have in school because it’s the easiest part of your life.
What does a common weekday look like for you? Right now, I’m here by between 6:40 to 6:45 a.m. I teach all day and do tutoring at lunch if students need it. And on Tuesdays and Thursdays I have lacrosse practice from 3 to 5 p.m.
What does a common weekend look like for you? If I’m not coaching, which for the next several weekends I am, I’m watching football and getting ready for the next week of school.
What are three things most people don’t know about you? I’m originally from Maryland, I like to cook, and I don’t play basketball–everybody asks me that.
