On March 11, the boys lacrosse team (6-2) played the University Cougars (4-4) away in an expected blow-out game.

At the start of the first quarter, the team took a strong offensive lead and scored two goals, 2-0. When University obtained the ball, they passed defense and scored, 2-1. Both teams held their ground, ending the quarter, 2-1.

Into the second quarter, sophomores Colin Kelly and Jack Reddeck scored two more goals for the team, 4-1. The referees called a penalty on Boone for a push, but defense kept University from the goal. At the end of the second quarter, the team lead, 4-1.

After half-time, University came back with two goals, 4-3. Reddeck scored a goal to put the team further ahead, 5-3. Sophomore Jaiden Corrente received the ball and scored, 6-3. University attempted to score a goal, but the referees did not count it. The third quarter ended with Boone in the lead, 6-3.

Senior Griffin Broecker began the final quarter with a goal, 7-3. Junior Davis Pittenger assisted senior Riley Bell for a goal, 8-3. University’s goalie tried to block the goal with his foot, but Kelly got passed and scored, 9-3. University tried to score in the last five seconds of the game, but they hit the rim. The team won the game, 9-3.

The boys play Freedom High School at home on Monday, March 14 at 7 p.m.
