How long have you been teaching? This is my first year.
What made you want to get into teaching? I’ve always been a coach, and I like being in front of people and I love helping people gain a similar knowledge.
Where did you go for college? I attended Notre Dame College where I studied biology.
Describe where you grew up. I grew up in Orlando and attended Boone. I graduated in 2008 and live two miles away.
Describe your thoughts on digital learning. I like it most days when it works. It is an easy transition since it is my first year, but it can be a task if the internet does not work well.
What has been your overall experience at Boone so far? It’s been awesome. The students are awesome, the teachers around me are great and have been very helpful. The principal is super encouraging, and everyone is so willing to help and I love the positive environment.
What is your favorite thing about Boone? The tradition and the community.
What are your goals for this year? To have all of my kids pass the biology EOC.
If there was one thing you wanted your students wanted to remember about your class, what would it be? They should love science, it’s around us everyday. Everything they are able to do is because of the science in this class.
What are your favorite types of sciences? Anatomy/physiology and biology. I just love it, everything we can do is because of these sciences, like why we can live longer.
If you could have one person with you on a deserted island, who would you choose? My mom. She is as witty as I am and we would survive well.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? Asia, it’s a place I’ve never learned too much about and it is a beautiful place with oceans, mountains and different cultures.
What is your motto and why? Imagination is more important than knowledge from Albert Einstein. You’re limited by what you already know and in class I always try and get my students to guess even if they are wrong.
