How long have you been teaching? 15 years.

What do you teach? AP Human Geography and World History.

What made you want to get into teaching? I moved here from Indiana where I practiced law. I moved to Florida so I could spend more time with my son who attends University of Florida.

Where did you go for college? I attended the University of Toledo College of Law and Ball State University.

What made you transition from law to teaching? When I moved to Florida from Indiana, I would’ve had to retake the bar exam. I realized I loved teaching and that it was easier for my family and I.

Describe where you grew up. I grew up in a small town called West Liberty which is only a few square blocks. My graduating class in high school was only 96 students which was every student in that class throughout the county.

Do you prefer small towns or large towns? I think both small towns and large towns have their advantages. I like having grocery stores, movie theatres and shopping malls close by which is why I moved out of a smaller town.

What has been your overall experience at Boone so far? I have a great impression of Boone. All of my students are so nice and get along very well. It’s nice since I’ve been at other schools with different experiences.

Where else have you taught? Dr. Phillips, Ocoee and Acceleration Academy West.

What is your favorite thing about Boone? The students, they’re all so likable and friendly. Random students will be very polite and hold the door open for me which is not what I am used to.

What are your goals for this year? For my students to do well.

If there was one thing you wanted your students to remember about your class, what would it be? They worked hard and learned a lot.

If you could have one person with you on a deserted island, who would you choose? My husband. My kids are on their own.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? I would love to travel everywhere, but Greece is really on my bucket list. I love the history of Greece and I would love to see what I teach up close and personal.
