Universal Studios Parks and Resorts announced a new expansion project in partnership with video game tycoon Nintendo.  The new park area will feature expansive, highly detailed environments consisting of Nintendo’s biggest franchises.  The project will affect Universal parks in Osaka, Japan; Hollywood, Calif; and Orlando, Fla.

Development of the new areas aims to create an immersive Nintendo experience filled with attractions, shops and restaurants. In a recent article released on their website, Nintendo promised that the attractions will offer fun experiences for children and adults alike.  Legendary Nintendo developer Shigeru Miyamoto and President of Universal Creative Mark Woodbury will have a significant role in the design and development of the new attractions.

“I’m pretty excited for the new attractions.  I go to Universal a lot and love Nintendo, so this is a pretty big deal for me,” freshman Johnathan Asbury said.

Nintendo’s main goal revolves around bringing some of their biggest games to life in fine detail.  Characters like Mario and Link will make appearances throughout the new area.  In a recent blog post on Universal’s website, Tom Schroder wrote, “The goal of everyone on this project is clear: to bring the characters, action and adventure of Nintendo video games to life within Universal theme parks. And to do so in new and innovative ways that capture what makes them so special.”

Each location plans on starting construction of the new areas individually.  While no definitive dates for construction exist, the public can expect more details in the coming months.

Hey, my name's Carston, and I'm a second year staffer at BoonePubs. My motto is fake it 'till you make it, and I love the movie Big Trouble in Little China. I'd love to travel to Minorca because that's where my ancestors are from. Some of my hobbies include working at the always wonderful Panera Bread, and writing. My hidden talent is that I can play guitar, and I wishfully hope to one day become mayor of Portland.
