On Thursday, Feb. 23, the Lady Braves lacrosse team (1-4) faced The First Academy Royals on the Reservation.

At the first draw, the Royals gained possession of the ball. The Royals attempted to make a goal, but goalie Payton Johnson, sophomore, blocked the shot. The Royals gained possession again and scored the first goal of the game, 0-1.

The Royals gained possession of the ball at the draw and made two more goals, 0-3.

After a timeout, senior Emily Darr gained possession of the ball at the draw. However, the Royals snatched the ball and scored, 0-5.

After both Darr and senior Madalyn Benton received the ball at the draw, junior Kendra Apple had possession of the ball. The Royals stole it from Apple and ran the ball downfield, scoring on Johnson, 0-8.

The Royals faced defensive players senior Morgan Chambers, juniors Kendall Kearce and Lauren Shutts and freshman Lillian Goeb while fighting for possession of the ball. Despite the defensive effort, the Royals made their way through and scored.

At halftime the Royals led, 0-10.

As the game resumed, Benton passed to Chambers who made the first goal of the evening for the Lady Braves, 1-10. Junior Jessica Shutack and Chambers both scored goals due to shooting-space calls, 3-10.

Benton with possession of the ball at the draw, ran downfield and scored on the Royals, 4-10.

With 33.8 seconds remaining in the game and the Lady Braves defense on attack, the Royals made the final shot and scored. The team fell to The First Academy Royals, 4-12.

The team will play the Cypress Creek Bears on the Reservation, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m.
