On Tuesday, March 7, the Lady Braves lacrosse team (2-1-6) battled Lake Nona in a district game.
In the first five minutes of the game senior Alexis Musser received a yellow card and was benched for three minutes. Sophomore goalie Payton Johnson came out strong blocking two goals back-to-back. Junior Avery Tyndall made an assist to junior Madeline Bogan who scored the first goal of the game with 19:42 left in the first half.
Lake Nona followed with two goals scored back-to-back bringing the score to 1-2, but the Lions did not stay in the lead for long. Senior Morgan Chambers scored and senior Emily Darr followed making it a 3-2 game.
Throughout the first half the teams continued to go point for point. Junior Jessica Shutack scored the next one for the Braves. Senior Alexis Musser got her second yellow card of the night and was benched for the remainder of the game, then junior Kristen Collins received her first yellow card. The Lions brought the score to 4-5 with less than five minutes in the half.
After senior Emily Darr hit a Lake Nona player on the head with her stick she received a red card because the team already had three yellow cards. The team began the second half playing two men down and trailing, 4-6.
Senior Madalyn Benton won the first draw of the second half and Chambers scored, 5-6. Lake Nona followed suit with two goals and the team trailed 5-8 with 16:18 left in the game. Chambers scored her third and fourth goal of the game, but Lake Nona matched it. Freshman Lexi Pace scored her first goal of the game bringing the final score to 8-10.
