What are some jobs that you worked at before you started teaching at Boone?
I was an elementary teacher for 22 years and middle school teacher for three years. I worked as a professor at Edison College.
What has been your most memorable moment at Boone so far?
The first time I got here everybody was friendly and very accommodating. It made me feel at home.
Were you in any clubs/extracurricular activities when you were in high school? Why?
Yes, I was in drama and chorus. I used to sing a lot. I love singing and theater, it was a passion.
What are your thoughts on all the new technology being introduced in classrooms?
Technology is good, it helps students to focus on standards, but they need to read real books. It’s very helpful in teaching.
If you were a plant or animal, what would you be and why?
I’d be a daisy because they’re cheerful, bright and beautiful.
What’s one surprising fact about yourself?
I’m a master scuba diver trainer, I love scuba diving. Deep dives, cave dives I have a lot of pictures. My specialty is deep wrecks.
What was your favorite subject when you were in high school?
Reading, I loved books. They transported me to another place.
When you were younger, what was your dream career?
I always wanted to be a teacher, I knew it since I was 5 years old.
What do you tell students on the first day?
I tell my students my [class] is like my house and living room, and invite them to come in.
