With excited faces, the Boone cheer team took the mat in the Hagerty Huskey Cheer Challenge at Hagerty High School on Saturday, Jan 9.
The girls had four two and a half hour practices this week leading up to the competition. The team went up against two time state champions Hagerty and Spruce Creek high schools.
With a bold opening cheer to start the routine, the team got the fans to yell the school colors while holding up orange and white banners in the stunts. This got the crowd pumped up for the rest of the two minute routine.
Rylee Witherington, who was injured with a rolled ankle, and three other alternate cheerleaders watched the team perform. They placed second in the large tumbling division. Hagerty won first place and Spruce Creek took third.
The team will compete in the Metro Championship on Friday, Jan 15, at Freedom High School at 6:25 p.m.
