The casual atmosphere and seat “yourself” attitude at The Original Alfonso’s Pizza and Sports Bar, located on South Orange Avenue, calls for a perfect afternoon hang out.
The restaurant opened just last week, on Feb. 29. The pizza and sports bar had impressive service and was spotlessly clean. The staff was friendly and willing to answer any questions on menu items.
There is a variety of foods on the menu, all at a fair price including wings, burgers, pizza, sandwiches and more. In addition to those items, the restaurant hopes to add more items and live entertainment.
To start, one should try the garlic rolls (two for $.99) and the Caesar salad with chicken ($7.99), grilled or blackened. The garlic rolls are a flavorful appetizer that will leave room the rest of the meal. The salad does the same, and the blackened chicken adds diversity to an otherwise typical salad and pizza meal.
As for the main part of the meal, the pizza is worth more than the inexpensive price they charge, $2.75 a slice. Besides pizza, the menu offers calzones and strombolis. An assortment of toppings, varying in price, ($.50-$1.50), can be added to almost any menu item, from the pizza to the calzones.
Although the food at The Original Alfonso’s Pizza and Sports Bar is served on paper plates and plastic silverware, the quality of food is outstanding and has potential to be a great casual time for friends and family. 4 stars
