With the release of Owl City’s new EP “Shooting Star,” fans are eager to listen his next album, The Midsummer Station, which is coming out on Aug. 14.

Owl City is an electronic-pop, one-man band that sprouted from a basement in Minnesota. Adam young started creating music in his parents basement, releasing his first EP Of June in 2007. He then signed with Universal Republic in 2008. Since then, Young’s most famous single, “Fireflies,” has sold over 3 million copies.

Young has been experimenting with different beats and sounds on his new CD. He is said to have incorporated his love of European dance music into “Shooting Star.”

The new EP features four songs, the single “Shooting Star,” “Gold,” “Dementia” featuring Mark Hoppus from Blink 182, and “Take it all away.”

Upon the first listen of the song “Shooting Star,” it is pleasantly surprising. In this track Young uses a louder base than that of his past CD’s; he also brings his piano and guitar into the mix.

Judging by the number of plays displayed on the sound track widget, on http://www.soundcloud.com/owlcityofficial/sets/owl-city-1/ fans have unanimously favored the single “Shooting Star” as their favorite track from this EP.

Although his sound has changed slightly, Young continues to keep his electronic sound and positive messages in his songs consistent.
