Making their record 4-4, the football team beat East River, 28-12. The defensive line led the team to a victory, ending three East River drives with interceptions.
Senior Aaron Turman rushed 18 times for 111 yards and scored three touchdowns. Two of his touchdowns were in the first quarter, giving the team an early lead of 14-0.
Turman’s third and final touchdown was in the fourth quarter. It was set up after a 17 yard swing pass from senior quarterback Blake Williams on a fourth down conversion.
The team’s defense stopped a two point attempt after an East River touchdown, which would have tied the score at 14. The defense also forced a fumble which bounced out of the back of the team’s end zone resulting in a touchback and change of possession.
Early in the fourth quarter, punter Johnny Townsend, senior, was hit and had to be helped off the field.
The team takes on Cypress Creek on the Reservation next week, Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
