Anticipation spread throughout the crowd in the stands as the girls soccer team warmed up on the field. The girls prepared for their first home game of the season against Olympia on Nov. 5. In the end the girls defeated the Titans, 3-1.
The girls took the lead in the first few minutes of the game with the first goal by junior Sabdie Alvarado. Shortly after, the Titans tied the score 1-1 from a penalty kick after senior Kayla Combs received a foul in the box. Shortly after, senior Heidi Hill scored bringing the girls back up in the lead. Toward the end of the first half junior Sabdie Alvarado made her second goal of the night, bringing the girls up 3-1.
The girls held strong throughout the second half and maintained their score of 3-1. Goalie junior Dyana Herrera, junior, made saves throughout the game and held the team strong defensively.
The girls JV team also scored a win against Olympia earlier in the evening, 3-0. Sophomore Mackenzie Chambers led the team with two goals and sophomore Kennedy Heath had one goal.
The girl’s next game is against Wekiva at home at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
