Some cars have the most pointless features on them. Some cars, as a whole, are pointless.

The Hyundai Veloster is a prime example. This car has three doors. Now most cars that are labeled “three doored vehicles” have one door on each side, and then the trunk is a hatchback, meaning the rear window lifts with the door itself, is considered the third door. This makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is having two doors on the passenger side and then having one door on the driver’s side. This has no function whatsoever.

Hyundai claims “the result offers the look of a sporty coupe with the added benefit of easy access for rear-seat passengers.” How does having one door on one side and two doors on the other side make it look sporty? Yes, the one door on the driver’s side does add a sporty look to it, but it only looks sporty on one side. When a person walks around to the other side of the car and sees two doors it looks like a cross dresser. It is halfway between two types of cars. The Veloster is an awkward looking, unsymmetrical and impractical use of doors that has no plausible reason for three doors.

The Reliant Robin is another car that is not only impractical, but extremely dangerous. Instead of having three doors, it has three wheels. It has one wheel in the front and two wheels in the back. The one wheel in the front compromises stability and when taking turns, it is very prone to flipping.  This is not a very big car, so flipping at high speeds could be potentially fatal.

The Hummer is another useless vehicle for everyday civilian life. Where it might be useful for the spaciousness of it, it is completely impractical for today’s needs. It is a car for short, rich men who are compensating for their size by driving a car that is large and in charge. With high gas prices and an average of ten miles to the gallon, this car would certainly put a crater in one’s wallet. It might save one money on insurance because of the sheer size of it, but no one other than the military, who will use it to navigate difficult terrains like sand and rocks, really needs that car.

The majority of cars are built with today’s needs in mind, but there are some ugly monstrosities that slip through the cracks of reason.
