On Dec. 11, in the Wayne Rickman Gymnasium, the junior varsity boys basketball team battled point-by-point with the Lake Brantley Patriots for a win.

The beginning of the first quarter indicated no clear leading team, as the score shifted from the home team leading 5-4 to a tie at 7-7 to a 12-7 lead by Boone.  By the middle of the first quarter, the team held the advantage of 13-9, with the opponent trailing behind.  The first quarter resulted in a final score of 20-15.

In the second quarter, sophomore Kerry Alce scored to bring the score up to 24-19, maintaining a five-point gap between the two teams.  However, the home team pulled away slightly, as the score was 33-21 when the Patriots called a timeout.  Following its huddle, Lake Brantley quickly began to make up for its lower score, finishing the second quarter 36-27 and the third quarter 46-42.

Despite Lake Brantley’s renewed effort, the Braves added another two points in the first 40 seconds.  A slam dunk with 30 seconds left in the game gave the boys a decisive, victorious finish, 63-55.

The JV basketball team will next play on Dec. 14 at Evans.
