In the second tri-meet of the season, the boy’s wrestling team beat all of their opponents: University, Winter Park and Colonial, Wednesday, Jan 9.

In the first match against University, the team won, 51-21. Senior Benny Borrero set the tone, getting the first pin of the night. The team was at advantage with University forfeiting many of the weight classes.

The boys also defeated Winter Park, 54-18. Senior Quante Cobb and junior Alex Levy wrestled strong matches. Cobb pinned his opponent in less than 30 seconds. Levy, in the 285 weight class, slammed his Winter Park opponent to get the pin.

In the third and final match, the boys beat Colonial, 55-21. Sophomore Jace Burrell wrestled strong, pinning his opponent in his only match of the night. David Torres, who also wrestled a strong match, pinned his opponent in just 36 seconds.

Catch the boy’s wrestling team on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 8 a.m. at Freedom High School for the Let Freedom Ring Duals meet.
