Playing at home, the soccer team faced Lake Highland, a dominate opponent. The game started out hopeful, but took a turn for the worst as the Lake Highland Highlanders started to score.

During the first half, the team could not put any points on the scoreboard. By the time the defense started to fight back, Lake Highland was already up by four points, making it difficult to overcome their deficit.

Once the second half started, junior Alexander Blanca scored a goal during a penalty. Shortly following that goal, junior Daniel Hurtado ran the field with the ball and dodged the goalie, adding one more goal to the score. Freshman Russell Holaday, playing for the first time as goalie on the varsity team, made saves throughout the game.

By the end of the game, Lake Highland had added five more goals to the score, ending the game,2-9.

The boys next game is away on Wednesday, Jan. 9,  against University at 7:30 p.m.
