With shouts of encouragement coming from the dugout consistently throughout the game, the baseball team defeated Freedom 6-1 on March 8.

The game started with senior Robert Coble’s first hit of the night, followed by senior John Townsend’s hit, sending Coble home for the Braves’ first run.

The second inning did not disappoint when one after the other, the boys helped each other score runs. Junior Blake Sanderson scored a run when sophomore Adam Anderson hit a double, followed by another hit from Coble to send Anderson to home plate.

In the third inning, Townsend kept Freedom from scoring, along with Anderson and senior Ian McKinney when they each caught a fly ball in the outfield.

After Sanderson’s hit got him on base, senior Brandon Grabhorn batted him in and also got on base. Then, Anderson stepped up to bat and sent Grabhorn home.  Freedom’s close attempt to end the inning there by getting Coble out wasn’t successful, as Anderson scored another run after senior Mitch Barati’s hit. The fourth inning ended with the Braves up 6-0.

With sophomore Kevin King pitching in the fifth inning, the score did not change, since senior Brandon Rhea, Anderson and Sanderson all hit fly balls that caused outs, the inning closed quickly.
Freedom’s first and only run came in the sixth inning. The game ended when senior Dylan Dragon got a batter out at first base in the seventh inning, followed by two strike outs by pitcher senior Omar Gonzalez.

Their next game is 4 p.m, Wednesday, March 13, at home against Cypress Creek.
