With a one run advantage,  Dr. Phillips defeated the Lady Braves softball team on March 8.

Starting off the first inning, both senior Elizabeth Cargo and sophomore Ciara McCoy made it on base but did not score any runs.

In the second inning, freshman Megan Mansfield bunted it and sophomore Sara Galvis made a catch, but the game remained scoreless.

Freshman Meghan Sexton scored the lone run in the third inning, making the score 1-0. Senior Kristi Creel made a catch, and Mansfield and McCoy both stole bases hoping to add to the score.

At the end of the fourth inning, Dr. Phillips scored a run bringing the game to 1-1. At bat, Sexton’s made a hit, bringing her to second base, but  no one was able to bring her home.

At the end of the fifth inning Dr.Phillips scored a run making it 1-2.

After Dr. Phillips scored, Chase Cassady began pitching and helped keep the Panthers from scoring.  The game remained 1-2 until the end of the seventh. McCoy’s  bunt brought hope to the Braves, but nothing transpired from it.

The Lady Braves lost, 1-2.

The next game is March 12 against East Ridge.
