In a Monday night make-up game, the football team battled the Timber Creek Wolves.

The first quarter started out rough as Timber Creek scored a touchdown  the first play of the game, putting the score at 0-7 within the first 30 seconds. Senior Calvin Smith fumbled the ball on his first play but recovered it. However, the team did not make it past the 50 yard line before junior Thomas Townsend was forced to punt the ball away, but stepped into the end zone giving Timber Creek a safety, making the score 9-0. Timber Creek managed to score two more touchdowns before senior Brandon Reddick scored the team’s first touchdown of the night, ending of the first quarter 7-23.

Smith started the second quarter with an 83 yard touchdown putting the Braves back in the game. Timber Creek responded by scoring again. Junior Darnell Burton acted quickly and completed a 24-yard carry for a touchdown putting the Braves within 10 points of the Wolves. Timber Creek scored two more touchdowns making the score 21-45 as the Braves headed into the locker room at halftime.

The third quarter began slow with neither team scoring until sophomore Jaquarios Bargnare made a touchdown closing the gap on the scoreboard. Juniors Austin Kneeland and Quentin Davis both had tackles and the defensive line kept the Wolves from only scoring one touchdown the entire quarter. The score was 28-52 at the end of the third.

To start of the final quarter with a bang Reddick caught Smith’s 56 yard pass for a Boone touchdown. Smith ran into the end zone for the extra point. Timber Creek scored again but soon after junior Adam Anderson made a touchdown with only five minutes left in the game to put the Braves within 15 points. However, another Timber Creek touchdown widened the margin, again. The team had some chances to come back but Smith threw four incomplete passes in the last minute. The game ended 43-65, Timber Creek.

The team’s next game is away this Friday, Sept. 13, against University at 7:30 p.m.
