On Sept. 21, the boys cross country team lined up and took mark at Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Senior Burkhardt Helfrich took first place in the large school varsity division with a time of 17:18.

Senior Tyler Chapman took eighth place in the same division with a time of 17:52.

The team placed third overall, behind Lyman High School and Viera High School, with a combined time of 1:32:00.29 from Helfrich, Chapman, and junior Ryan Harding who placed 14th with a time of 18:23.

Of 124 total runners in the large school varsity division, the boys all placed in the top 62.

Freshman James Murphy finished in 18:47, junior Grayson Gordon had a time of 19:38 and sophomore Aidan Teel finished with a time of 19:39.

Their next meet is at the Chain of Lakes Park in Titusville, Fla., next Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m.
