In a regular season home game on March 12, the Lady Braves softball team played the Cypress Creek Bears.

The girls started strong defensively in the top of the first inning, allowing no batters on base. With freshman Kelsi Smith on first, sophomore Meghan Sexton hit a triple RBI followed by junior Sara Galvis’ single RBI which ended the first inning, 2-0.

In the second inning, Cypress Creek remained scoreless, with the junior Chase Cassady’s pitching leading the Lady Brave’s.  Junior Ciara McCoy started the bottom of the second with a base hit and stole second and third.  Senior Kathleen Nelson’s infield hit brought McCoy home, 3-0. Cassady struck out three consecutive hitters, and the Lady Braves ended the third inning with no hits or runs.

Junior Sidney Suggs had a big hit in the bottom of the forth inning, hitting a triple, bringing in Leslie Cintolo. Smith’s single brought Suggs home, along with Cassady, 6-0. Junior Sara Galvis also led at bat, scoring a homerun in the bottom of the fifth. McCoy followed with a base hit which brought home the final runner, 8-0.

The Lady Braves held off the Bears in the final two innings without allowing any runs scored. The final score was 8-0; the girls continue their season now 8-4-1.

The next game will be held away against Freedom on March 14 at 4 p.m.
