Seven years ago, Hilary Duff had it all.

Duff dominated the small screen when the young starlet was a mere preteen on Lizzie McGuire, a ratings giant for the Disney channel that ran from 2001-2004. Following a successful spin-off movie, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, Duff moved on to pursue a successful film career starring in hits such as A Cinderella Story and Cheaper by the Dozen. Above all of these accomplishments the teen queen also topped the charts with 4 four albums, spawning off top singles like “So Yesterday”, “Come Clean”, “Wake Up”, and “Why Not”.

Since 2007 Duff has faded into a life of semi-obscurity, marrying and separating from hockey player Mike Comrie, having a son, and being a New York Times best-selling author.  Now she is back and better than ever. After her initial comeback single “Chasing the Sun” failed to impress fans, Duff has brought out the big guns for her new single and video, “All About You.”

The catchy tune premiered Aug. 12 with positive reviews praising the infectious lyrics, vocals, and the pop-folk undertones. The song implements subtly sexualized lyrics and a simple progression that always feels full. Although not flawless, such as the endless and repetitive chorus, the song is able to swoon even the most prominent haters to bop along.

“All About You” dropped Wednesday night on Vevo and although the song may entice fans, the video is an entirely different story. Featuring the Amazon fire, an obnoxious and distracting product placement, the video begins with Duff taking a photo of a handsome stranger who leaves his record behind. Along with her trusty back up dancers, Duff is able to track down Mr. Mystery at a party where the two predictably hit it off.

For 2:45 the viewer is given beautifully shot scenes of Duff uncomfortably jamming out to her own song with flashes of poor choreography that is only made better by the quick moving frame.

Overall the video was too simple, creepy, and unimpressive. That being said, any die-hard Duff fan will ignore the bad and sing along to what might be Duff at her best. With her rocky relationship behind her, an album on the way (which features collaborators such as Ed Sheeran), Hilary Duff is ready to take the music world by storm with this hit single that will undoubtedly climb the charts.
