In their match against Freedom (17-3) on April 8, the boy’s volleyball team (5-9) lost, 1-3.

The first set began with Freedom in the lead. A kill from sophomore Daniel Hermida brought the team to, 4-7.  The Braves worked to catch up to the Patriots lead. Juniors Jon Bartelt and Blake Garrison provided strong defense for the team.  Despite their efforts, the boys lost the first set, 20-25.

In the second set, the boys strove to defeat the Patriots.  The whole team put in their best efforts with multiple kills and defensive blocks, but the Braves still lost, 19-25.

The third set was their chance for a comeback.  The boys were constantly making kills; Hermida made yet another kill and sophomore Dominick Orlando had a kill as well.  The defense was strong enough to keep the Patriots from scoring. The Braves won their first set of the evening, 25-17.

In the fourth and final set, tension was high and the team played to win.  With a volley between the teams that seemed to last forever, the boys appeared to have a chance of winning.  Even with their persistence to win, they fell in the fourth set, 20-25.

The Braves play again tonight at 7 in the Wayne Rickman Gymnasium. They face the Olympia Titans (7-7).
